FROM: JCTR TO: MEDIA HOUSES DATE: Thursaday 2nd MARCH 2017 RE: JCTR WELCOMES GOVERNMENTS’ INTENTION TO RE-TABLE THE ACCESS TO INFORMATION (ATI) BILL IN PARLIAMENT. THE Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection (JCTR) is delighted that the Zambian government through Minister of Justice, Hon. Given Lubinda, has reaffirmed its resolve to re-table the Access to Information (ATI) Bill in Parliament. JCTR equally re-affirms a consistent position that the Access to Information law is necessary as it fits well in democratic governance system which Zambia has always aspired to become, since the re-introduction of Multi-party democracy. AS JCTR, we believe...

Press Release For Immediate Release 26th February 2017 The Non Governmental Organisations’ Coordinating Council (NGOCC) has noted the ongoing debate that has engrossed the country on whether government should regulate or abolish the payment of bride price commonly referred to as “Lobola” in Southern Africa. As an organization, we note that payment of bride price in Zambia called “Lobola”, “Chimalo”, “Impango”, “Lubono“ and so forth, depending on what part of the country one comes from, is a tradition that defines how we as a people celebrate our marriage rite. However, NGOCC is deeply concerned with the commercialisation of “Lobola”...
REV DR SUZANNE MATALE – GENERAL SECRETARY CCZ The Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) has observed with sadness the increase in the levels of desperation among many Zambians for miracles performed by self-acclaimed prophets and pastors. The council has noted with dismay the high cases of criminality perpetuated by these self-acclaimed prophets and pastors who have continued to abuse their followers by demanding huge amounts of money and sexual favors in exchange for miracles. Christianity is a dignified religion whose followers must leave according to the order of the bible which offers direction, advice and wisdom on matters of...
