PEOPLE’S Redemption Party President Jerry Sikazwe hopes Zambians will take advantage of 2017 by making corrections on social, economic and democratic areas of failure.
Obviously in a jovial festive season mood, Mr. Sikazwe in a walk-in-interview barely a few hours into 2017 appealed to the Zambians to remain steadfast, maintain and guard jealously the “Oasis of Peace” fame.
However, now 71-year-old Sikazwe conceded that life has not been smooth sailing for Zambia viewed as good governance pace setters, a political ingredient sought after by potential investors.
Sikazwe emphasized in his 2017 New Year message that Zambia being a Christian Nation must find a sustainable way of recognizing freedom fighters and ageing population, now living in abject poverty.
Sikazwe implored citizens and government to empower the Senior Citizens Association of Zambia (SCAZ) as these unsung heroes and heroines contributed to her prosperity.
People’s Redemption Party President concluded his submission stating that though as a typical Zambian supportive of the 1992 unilateral Declaration of Zambia as a Christian Nation by Second Republican President, the late Dr. Frederick Titus Jacob Chiluba, wished citizens the and human race globally a happy and prosperous 2017 with mixed expectations bearing in mind escalating poverty levels and a leadership segregating others.
Last Thursday, 29th December 2016 marked exactly 25 years after this declaration witnessed by President Edgar Chagwa Lungu, First lady Esther Lungu and the indefatigable Dr. Kenneth David Buchizya Kaunda.
However, by Media Time no immediate reason was advanced for United Party for National Development (UPND) leader, Hakainde Hichilema and his Running Mate, Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba’s absence at Mulungushi International Conference Centre (MICC)..
On its part, the Edith Zewelani Nawakwi’s Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) through Spokesperson Antonio Mourinho Mwanza mocked the event as a façade.
