PROFESSIONAL Teachers Union Zambia (PROTUZ) General Secretary Kangwa Musenga has called on
Housing and Infrastructure Minister Vincent Mwale to consider spearheading construction of decent houses for teachers
deployed countrywide as they are mainly women, who deserve equally attention as other civil servants.
PROTUZ General Secretary (GS) Kangwa Musenga said there is need to consider the
plight of teachers spread countrywide, as such a deliberate move will motivate and encourage them to serve in rustic areas.
Mr. Musenga said most of the teachers who are deployed are mainly women and face
accommodation challenges in the rural areas, which lack more often than not is demotivating.
“We want to ask Government through the Ministry of Infrastructure and
Housing to ensure that they construct houses for our teachers who agreed to
serve this nation countrywide,” Musenga prayed.
The PROTUZ General Secretary said there is no doubt that in which ever part of the country a person can go to he or she would be able to find a teacher endeavouring in challenging circumstances to educate children and adults.
“We have seen the commitment that Government has extended to the men in uniform and this gesture should be extend to the teachers as well,” Musenga, noted acknowledging strides recorded by Home Affairs Minister Stephen KAMPYONGO.
THE PROTUZ General Secretary said once this gesture of constructing houses for the teachers is done it will act as a motivation.p
