Texila American University felicitates Zambian students with scholarships worth over One Million Kwacha

September 25, 2018: In a move to encourage quality education for Zambian students, Texila American University (TAU) conferred 82 students with scholarships on Tuesday, September 25th at a jubilant event held in Lusaka. 4 meritorious students were felicitated with 100% scholarship on their entire tuition fee to pursue programs in Health Professions Foundation Program (HPFP). To promote quality education in Zambia, TAU organized this scholarship to felicitate Zambian high school graduates with full and partial scholarships on tuition fee worth more than K1, 000, 000 (One Million Kwacha).
Speaking at the occasion, Minister of Higher Education, Honorable Nkandu Luo said, “I would like to congratulate Texila American University for being an example of an institution that gives back to the country. On behalf of the government, I would like to thank you for investing in Zambia through these scholarships. To the recipients, I encourage you to take responsibility and work hard in this journey you are yet to begin. I encourage you not to take these scholarships for granted. These scholarships have been given on merit, and that’s the way it should be.”
The TAU Founder and President Mr Saju Bhaskar extended his heartfelt congratulations to all scholarship awardees. In his written message he said that TAU considers itself as a responsible group to support the nation-building movement by working hand in hand with Government. “The TAU board is enthusiastic to bring more investment in Zambia”.
Deputy Vice Chancellor at Texila American University, Zambia, Prof Ajay Kumar Poddar said “at Texila, we recognize the growing need for quality education to be accessible to all. These young students you see here are the future of this nation and must have access and exposure to global standards of education. It is for this reason that we initiated the scholarship plan for which we have received an overwhelming response from students and parents.
The event was attended by the Honorable Minister of Higher Education, Nkandu Luo as Guest of honor. Other dignitaries included the Honorable Mayor of Lusaka, Mr. Miles Sampa, the Honorable Deputy Speaker of National Assembly, Mr Mwimba Henry Malama and the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof Ajay Kumar Poddar, among others.
