On 19 September 2017, United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation together with the Kingdom of Morocco and in cooperation with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change secretariat organized an event “South-South Cooperation for Climate Action” in United Nations Headquarters, New York.

High-level representatives from the Member States, regional and international organizations, inter-governmental organizations, academia and the private sector participated in the discussion recognizing South-South cooperation as an important modality in the context of the implementation of the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The event aimed at highlighting climate actions and ambitions from the global South, including those of the Member States and non-state actors, with a focus on Southern collaboration for climate action.

The participant shared success stories of South-South cooperation on climate change and discussed scalable solutions. They shared how they are contributing to the implementation of the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) of the Paris Agreement through collaborative efforts.
