…..The Sharks Women’s and Men’s Teams Swallow Smaller Fish In Tournament.
THE Lusaka Sharks Women’s Club(LSWC) has dominated the Zambia National Hockey Tri- Nation tournament after beating Hippo Hockey Club of Zimbabwe 3-0 and Zambia’s Springfield hockey club 8-1 to advance to second stage at Lusaka’s Olympic Youth Development Center(OYDC), on Friday 19th August 2016, reports Pan African Radio Sports Journalist Ashton Kelly Bunda.
With confidence after beating Springfield, Lusaka Sharks started the game against Hippo of Zimbabwe with an aggressive approach surging forward every time they possessed the ball.
Striker Martha Kalomo put Lusaka Sharks in front after a penalty corner rebound in the 20th minute of first quarter after an interchange of passes with skilled midfielder and captain of side Allines Mambwe to make 1-0.
After a minute Lusaka Sharks who are tutored by Blessings Lowole doubled scores after Loveness Mudenda managed to beat Zimbabwean goal keeper Petronella Mwanza to make it 2-0,and after the second quarter break Sharks captain Allines Mambwe was denied a goal by the goal post.
Lusaka Sharks put the game beyond the Zimbabweans reach in the 57th minute Patricia Banda after Captain Alliness Banda engineered well-coordinated move to make it 3-0.
Lusaka Sharks Super-Substitute Defender Fridah Muswema who was preceded by the “no nonsense defender” Anna Mvula was a marvel to watch as she frustrated the Zimbabwean striking duo Fadzai Meda and Dorcas Madziva, tutored by Tendai Maredza in a thrilling game.
Meanwhile Lusaka Sharks Men’s(LSMC) team out classed fellow Zambians DE- stars of Lusaka at the Tri-Nation tournament with 9 goals to 2 in courtesy of accurate passes by Lusaka Sharks midfielders and defenders with Floyd Chomba scoring a brace and team captain Victor Kumwenda contributed a goal through a penalty corner in the 4th quarter putting the game beyond the reach of fellow Zambians DE stars to make it 9-2.
And results in previous games ; Men’s games Genetics of Malawi beat Springfield of Zambia 1-0,while Hippo of Zimbabwe earlier beat Hotspurs of Zambia .The finals of the Tri-Nations tournament will take place on Sunday the 21st August 2016.
