The Lusaka Magistrates court has convicted a Judiciary Officer to two months simple imprisonment for two counts of corrupt practices involving K64 000.
The Anti- Corruption Commission in 2014 arrested Winnie Mponda, 37, of plot number 266/60A Kudu Road, Kabulonga and charged her with one count of uttering a false document contrary to section 352 and 347 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia; and one count of Obtaining pecuniary advantage by false pretenses contrary to section 309A of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
JUDICIARY OF ZAMBIA
Count 1 Particulars being that Winnie Mponda on dates unknown but between 1st January, 2012 and 30th June, 2012 being a public officer namely a Typist at the Judiciary uttered a false document namely a Grade 12 School Certificate, Shorthand Typewriting Certificate No. BC5/985, National Registration Card No. 656958/11/1 to the Judicial Service Commission purporting to show that the said documents were genuine when in fact not.
Count 2 Particulars being that Winnie Mponda on dates unknown but between 1st January 2012 and 31st January 2012, being a Public Officer namely a Typist at the Judiciary did dishonestly and with false pretenses purport to have a shorthand Typewriting Certificate in order to be employed as a typist at the Judiciary and was so employed and by virtue of which you received a total salary of K60, 133.04 before tax and settling in allowance of K4, 628.57 from Government.
Hon Zulu in passing judgement said Ms Winnie Mponda’s sentence for both counts would to run concurrently. Circulated by
