LUSAKA, (Wednesday, 16h August, 2017)- His Excellency Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu, President of the Republic of Zambia has sworn in Ministry of Health Spokesperson Kennedy Malama as Permanent Secretary for administration at the Ministry with a clarion call to him to prioritise the procurement of medicine to save lives.
Shortly, after swearing in Dr Malama, the President advised the Permanent Secretary not to take a lethargic approach which other Permanent Secretaries and Ministers had taken in their execution of duty.
The President implored the Permanent Secretary not to recline whenever the Ministry of Finance indicated that there was no money to procure drugs, but that he should instead impress upon the Ministry to make them understand that procurement of medicines was an urgent matter.
The President expressed confidence that Dr. Malama was suitable for the job and would work to the expectations of the Zambian people.
However, the President cautioned the Permanent Secretary to work within his job description and ensuring that he delegated and supervised his subordinates, as “delegating without supervision is a recipe for failure.”
“I wish you God’s blessings as you take up this new appointment and l know that you will work to the expectations of the Zambian people.,” the President said. Circulated by
