THE Government of the Republic of Zambia has put in place policies to grow the economy and specifically targeted at infrastructure development.
The insistence on infrastructural development has motivated the private sector to emulate Central Government interventions, with Lafarge Cement taking advantage of this incentive.
Last year Lafarge Cement launched a new product aptly named ‘Power Plus’ introduced to cater for the growing domestic and commercial construction market.
Lafarge Cement Zambia Superset is a product designed from 42.5R Portland Limestone cement used for block making and concrete.
The new product is a solution to the demands of block making and concrete market which are on the increase in Zambia.
Launching the product last year, then Minister of Commerce Trade and Industry Felix Chipota Mutati described the construction sector as testament of a development evolution.
“Cement manufacturers like Lafarge Cement are taking advantage of the booming commercial and domestic construction market,” Mutati had noted.
Former United Party for National Development (UPND) Kafue Member of Parliament (MP) Bob Sichinga was recently appointed as Commerce. Trade and Industry Minister by Zambia’s 5th Republican President Michael Chilufya Sata.
Sichinga is deputized by Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) Chilanga MP, Keith Mukata.
