CHINESE AMBASSADOR PAYS A COURTESY CALL ON INFORMATION AND BROADCASTING SERVICES MINISTER(For immediate release).Zambia and the People’s Republic of China have reaffirmed their commitment to extend further the bilateral relations in the Information and Broadcasting sector.
This was when Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Yang You Ming called on the Minister of Information of Broadcasting Services and Chief Government Spokesperson, Hon Kampamba Mulenga at her office today.The duo said bilateral relations between the two countries should continue growing, given that Zambia and China have cooperated in many areas such as media, education, transport, health and infrastructure development since Zambia gained her independence in 1964.Ms Mulenga emphasised the need for the two countries to strengthen-cooperation in the media and information sector.The Minister thanked the People’s Republic of China for its continued support and corporation to the nation in various sectors.“His Excellency the President, Edgar Chagwa Lungu, myself, and the people of Zambia at large are indebted to what the people of the Republic of China have done for Zambia. For example, there are number of sectors where the Chinese government has come through for our nation such as the main stream media,agriculture and infrastructure development”, she said.
The Minister appealed to China to help equip the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) and Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC)which are currently facing operational challenges.
Ms Mulenga also thanked China for the continued support rendered to the digital migration Process.Chinese Ambassador, Yang You Ming pledged China’s continued support to Zambia in the information and Broadcasting sector among others.He said China is also ready to continue supporting Zambia’s digital Migration process.Issued by the Press and Public Relaons Unit MINISTRY OF INFORMATION AND BROADCASTING SERVICES. 22nd March, 2017
