The Zambia Institute of Policy Analysis and Research (ZIPAR) Interim Executive Director Zali Chikuba says Development Finance Assessments (DFA’s) are critical tools designed to actualise development aspirations.
And United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator Representative for Zambia Ojijo Odhiambo pledged close collaboration with the Zambian government and peer partners through the integrated national financing framework, essential for building a demand driven finance system.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Finance and National Planning Permanent Secretary (PS) Lois Mulube says government is committed to decentralising service provision and development process to the sub national level supporting local authorities with a comprehensive overview of the current financing.
Launching the National District Development Finance Assessment, Mr. Chikuba notes that development assessments act as critical insights guiding Zambia’s development agenda.
Chikuba notes that the DFA’s provide comprehensive insights of information to the critical areas identified by supportive partners.
“Katete District in the Eastern Province is under the district finance module, a crucial means anchoring decentralization process and will provide a blueprint for 115 districts,” said Chikuba.
Mr. Odhiambo noted that development finance assessment is viewed as an analytical tool to guide that the process of operations of an integrated National Finance Framework (INFF).
Ms. Mulube notes that effective mobilisation and management of development resources require reliable monitoring and evaluation systems .
“Government will continue to make improvements in resource allocation to enhance management and institutional capacity,” assured Ms. Mulube.
