King Charles shares joke with David Beckham as England football legend handed huge role
King Charles is pictured having a laugh with David Beckham as the ex-football legend is named new ambassador of the King’s Foundation.
King Charles and David Beckham “compared beekeeping tips” as the former England captain was today named as an ambassador for The King’s Foundation.
In new photographs released to mark Saturday’s announcement, the pair are pictured smiling and joking on the doorstep of Highgrove, while others show Beckham having a go at carpentry in front of foundation students taking part in woodworking courses at the Snowdon School of Furniture.
It comes as speculation over whether Mr Beckham will receive a knighthood from His Majesty this year continues to swirl.
The football legend received an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in 2003 but has been snubbed ever since.
Mr Beckham met the King at the royal gardens of Highgrove, His Majesty’s private country residence, to learn more about the charity’s work.

“I’ve always been keen to help young people to expand their horizons and I’m particularly looking forward to supporting the Foundation’s education programmes and its efforts to ensure young people have greater access to nature.”
The King’s Foundation, which is the custodian of the Highgrove Gardens, was founded by Charles as Prince of Wales in 1986 and aims to educate and provide holistic solutions to challenges facing the world today in a sustainable manner.
