Economic Front (EF) Spokesperson, Humphrey Kabwe is appealing to the United Party for National Development (UPND) Administration to immediately reverse the recent increment of toll gate charges, mobile money transaction charges and the automatic increment
of electricity tariffs which was effected on Monday, 1st January, 2024.
Mr Kabwe says these increments continue to negatively affect the costs of living and production thus causing more hardship on the already suffering citizens.
Kabwe says it is unacceptable, retrogressive and being heartless to hike toll gate charges for truck’s to K1,250 from K500.
“These increments of toll gate charges and automatically hiking electricity tariffs pushed up the prices of mealie meal and other food stuffs,” cried Kabwe as he urged citizens to stand up and fight for economic liberation in 2026 by voting out President Hakainde Hichilema’s leadership.
A tariff is a tax imposed by the government of a country or by a supranational union on imports or exports of goods.
Besides being a source of revenue for the government, import duties can also be a form of regulation of foreign trade and policy that taxes foreign products to encourage or safeguard domestic industry.
