Government through the Ministry of Technology and Science says that it shall continue to create an enabling environment for Zambia Postal Services (ZamPost) to thrive and move to enhance access to Postal and Courier services throughout the Country.
Gracing the Launch of the ZamPost 2023-2027 strategic Plan: Technology and Science Permanent Secretary Brilliant Habeenzu says that in this respect, his Ministry is going to undertake a review of the Postal Service Act 22 of 2009 in order to address the inadequacies in the Act and also provide for the Institutional and functional and realignment and promote development of the sector.
Habeenzu says ZamPost needs to leverage on technology as well as smart partnerships to optimize the use of E-commerce to enhance service delivery.
He adds that this direction will help reduce the challenges faced by the public to access various services especially government services which will lead to increased commission for ZamPost.
The PS also said that the launch of the Strategic Plan marks the beginning of an existing journey but for it to materialize, it requires collective commitment and unwavering dedication.
He further stressed the need for ZamPost to play a more active role in facilitating trade with Zambia and beyond through the adoption of digital technologies as well as partner with local solution providers and create home grown solutions to Zambia’s problems at the most competitive price.
Habeenzu said that despite the numerous challenges, the Zambia Postal Services corporation have in the recent past played a pivotal role in the provision of government services such as requirements and road tax.
He urged the Board Management for ZamPost to remain resolute and committed in it’s duties to deliver to the people of Zambia and turn the institution into a world class company that delivers efficiently to the expectations of Zambians.
Meanwhile ZamPost Postal Master Chewe Puta appreciated all the strategic partners such as Zanaco, Natsave, FNB, Smart Zambia and many others for the support rendered in reaching this significant milestone.
He said that this is just the beginning of things now to come, as management it’s job is now to deliver and are dedicated to do so.
