MULTICHOICE Zambia Managing Director Leah Kooma is elated to serve as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at a time she describes as exciting in the Multichoice business.
Officiating at a Thursday, 1st September, 2022 Multichoice Zambia Showcase, in Lusaka, Mrs. Kooma assured customers of fulfilling every promise made since inception 27 years ago, built on a foundation of delivering exciting entertainment and an exceptional service.
And during a colourful event at Rhapsody’s Cafe & Wine Bar, on Lusaka’s Nangwenya Road, Showgrounds, spiced with splendid performances by Victor ‘Kabova’ Chushi and King Buga Mulaza ‘Marcky 2’ Kaira, 2012 African Cup winning team captain, Christopher Katongo officially launched the Qatar FIFA World Cup campaign.
Chinyimba Daisy Mwansa Lusumpa aka Chichi Daisy Lups had an exciting evening interview with crews from Royal Qlick, Chokolo and Zambia’s broadcasting envoy to the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, Matimba ‘Ama 10 10’ Nkonje.
In a speech read on her behalf by Multichoice Zambia Head Corporate Affairs, Ms. Chilufya Mumba Mwelwa, Mrs. Kooma reinforced a vow to continue satisfying customers with unequalled mouthwatering content.
“As we continue to thrill you with exciting content, we’re proud to announce that we have the biggest season in entertainment coming up, which allows us to bring even more value to our customers in every way,” said Mrs. Kooma as she acknowledged Multichoice Zambia Board Chairperson, Jack Kalala, GOtv Board Chairperson, Mrs. Chilufya Mwaba Phiri, Multichoice Regional Director Southern, Mr. Jabavu Henshu, Multichoice Talent Factory Academy Director, Mr. Christopher Puta and Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) Director Genera, Madam Josephine Mapoma.
Answering her own question as to why is it the biggest season, Mrs. Kooma said: “We have more of the content that we know customers love, from the Premier League, Laliga, Serie A and our much-loved Bola Yapa Zed to the much – anticipated Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup from Sunday, 20th November, 2022 to Sunday, 18th December, 2022. No other year, has seen this amount of football on our platforms”.
Mrs. Kooma bragged as she painted DStv and GOtv as the best stadiums in sport, hosting customers whether in a comfort of an office, home or in a local pub.
Said Mrs. Kooma: “Multichoice Zambia brings you the biggest games, in the best quality, at the price – point that suits tour pocket and purse. And it’s not just soccer – it’s WWE, Formula 1, athletics, tennis, golf and rugby. The list is endless”.

With two (2) decades work experience Mrs. Kooma took up her role as Managing Director on 1st August 2021, and prior to her appointment, served as MultiChoice Zambia’s Chief Customer Officer.
A member of the Zambia Institute of Marketing, Mrs. Kooma holds a Degree in Development Studies and Economics from the University of Zambia and a Master of Business Administration from the University of South Wales.
Mrs Kooma joined MultiChoice as the GOtv Commercial General Manager in 2017 and was later promoted to the position of Chief Customer Officer until her recent appointment of Managing Director in August 2021.
Note: The 2022 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to be the 22nd running of the FIFA World Cup competition, the quadrennial international men’s football championship contested by the senior national teams of the member associations of FIFA. It is scheduled to take place in Qatar from Sunday, 20th November, 2022 to Sunday, 18th December, 2022.
This will be the first World Cup ever to be held in the Arab world, and the second World Cup held entirely in Asia after the 2002 tournament in South Korea and Japan.
In addition, the tournament will be the last to involve 32 teams, with an increase to 48 teams scheduled for the 2026 tournament in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Due to Qatar’s intense summer heat, this World Cup will be held from late-November to mid-December, making it the first tournament not to be held in May, June, or July and to take place in the northern winter; it will be played in a reduced timeframe of around 29 days.
The first match played at the tournament will be contested between Qatar and Ecuador at Al Bayt Stadium, Al Khor.
The final is due to be held on 18th December, 2022, which also is Qatar National Day.
The reigning World Cup champions are France.
2018, France won the World Cup for the second time, defeating Croatia 4–2 in the final at the Luzhniki Stadium in Russia.
