TRACK and Field national team coach Douglas Kalembo says the All Comers meet even that took place at Heroes stadium on Saturday 22 January 2022 will be spring board to advance after following the Coronavirus (Covid 19) pandemic which restricted them to go and acclimatize before the 2021 Japan Olympics .
Kalembo said his team is going flat out to recruit new athletes and sharpen the experienced runners by to increase their speed and acquire high endurance levels as they prepare for the forthcoming World Junior Championships on Tuesday, 12th July, 2022 and the commonwealth games in August 2022 at heroes stadium where only provinces participated namely: Lusaka, Copperbelt ,Southern and Central province.
Coach Kalembo said the international timing qualifying standards for events like the Olympics and the commonwealth games as follows ,100 meters qualifying timing speed is 10 seconds and ;05 Millie seconds , while 400 meters is 44.99 Millie seconds , 200meters qualifying speed time is 20.24 and 400 meters hurdles qualifying time is 47.89 and that he was impressed with Patrick Nyambe from Zambia police athletic club who clocked 45.55, in 400meters race final heat ,he was followed by Samukonga Muzaza from Green Buffaloes athletic club who clocked 46.90 and third in bronze medal category was Luyando Mudenda clocking 47.31.
In other events men category heat finals, Morgan Kalaba from Konkola Athletic Club clocked 49.68 and he was followed by Dominic Mugwadi from Green Buffaloes athletic club 50.87 and Noah Bwalya at from Konkola Athletic Club at 51.28.
In heat 2, witnessed by Zambia Athletic Association (ZAA) led by Elias Ng’andu Mpondela, Oliver Simate won the race clocking 48.50 followed by Akim Mwape from Green Buffaloes at 51.04.
In the women category 100 meters heat final saw Edna Ngandula of Green Bufalloes Athletic Club win the race cross the finish line clocking 12.76 , followed by Charity Chizyuka from Nakambala Athletic Club at 12.95 and third was Mary Siamukande at Zambia Institute of Sports Development (ZISD)clocking 14.06.
In the women 100 meters heat 3, Ruth Mutale from the Samuel Matete Athletic Club got first position in the race after clocking 11.89.
In the Men’s category 100 meters Ingutu Ingutu from Nakambala Athletic Club won the race clocked 11.36 followed by Moses Banda from Konkola Athletic Club clocked 12.27 and Dalisto Musonda from Paramilitary Athletic Club came out third bronze category at 13.84.
