2014 Brazil Olympics Gold medalist Sydney Siame says local competitions like the All- Comers meet that converge provinces with different talents and abilities is key to discovering talent that can beat existing high records including what he has achieved.
Siame who specializes in the 100metres and 4x 100meters says there are many boys and girls who are faster, energetic and with long endurance levels that him and that making efforts to spreading the net wider to rest of the ten provinces would bear fruits .
Siame who competed in the same race with one of the world’s fastest runner Usain Bolt of Jamaica said the government and other stake holders should their best to put up a strong policy that other generations will inherit as a road map that will benefit athletes and stand a teas of time to be a permanent template for athletes.
“There are many upcoming athletes out there , all we need is to spread the net wider in all provinces to bring to light the talent that Zambia is blessed with , am not the best or most fastest runner in Zambia , there other who can do better than me ,the athletic federations need financial support in an effort to tap talent of which some is now going to waste,” the humble athlete stressed.
Siame advised that for Zambia to make an impact in athletics and bring glory to mother Zambia and up hold the reputation of past successful athletes like Samuel Matete and Yotam Muleya, more competent athletes should be groomed so that they qualify to the commonwealth games frequently and represent Zambia.
