MARKETEERS at Kabwe’s Katondo market in the Central Province have felt neglected following the
Government’s failure through local Government Minister Vincent Mwale to reconstruct the blown off roof at nearby Kachulu market.
Kachulu Market chairman Shadreck David Nyendwa remains aggrieved that the Resident Development Committee is just interested in pushing the Patriotic Front (PF) Government led by President Edgar Chagwa Lungu to rehabilitate the damaged roof.
Mr. Nyendwa regrets that the market had remained without a roof for more than a year, though conceding that authorities delivered a few iron sheets at the market, seven months ago.
“500 marketers are operating here as others have found trading shelter elsewhere. Government must consider our plight by rehabilitating the market and the road network,” Nyendwa pleaded.
But Kabwe Municipal Council (KMC) Assistant Public Relations Manager, Ms. Mumba Mafwenko said the local authority will ensure that the roof was reconstructed as procurement of material is in progress.
