CONTINENTAL Leadership Research Institute (CLRI) Executive Director Mundia Paul Hakoola is gladly bubbling with confidence as President Hakainde Hichilema opens the First Session of the Thirteenth National Assembly Opens on Friday 10th September, 2021 in Lusaka.

Mr. Hakoola noted that as Parliament resumes its sessions with Zambia’s Second Female Vice President, Reverend Mutale Nalumango as leader of the August House, CLRI is optimistic of a positive future.

In a Wednesday 1st September, 2021 Press Statement, a forward looking Hakoola expects a sober debate from the August House, as opposed to previous empty talk witnessed in the last decade.

“We do not expect the business as usual kind of Parliament with political comedy and noise making by some unserious Members of Parliament,” cautioned Hakoola.

The CLRI Executive Director is elated that the bar of leadership even at parliament has to be set high and political parties must start making assessments on parliamentarians, and give them performance indicators in their various constituency, as parliament is not a holiday destination but a place of sober debate and progressive legislation.

“CLRI expects institutions of governance to be strengthened and to be given more autonomy to deal with various challenges in different sectors especially financial management of public resources. The institute expects an Act of Parliament to deal with issues of tribal talk that can’t be left to morals of our politicians because the past elections has a lot lessons for the Zambian people, we are fortunate as country that we didn’t have civil strife but we have plan ahead and not allow careless talks to bring civil strife, we have plan ahead and we to ensure that legislate in clear terms. The institute also reaffirms its call before elections for us to have an Act of parliament that will ensure that diplomats are career diplomats as compared to having less skilled people in Foreign Service,” admonished Hakoola of CLRI whose tagline is: “A Centre of Leadership Excellence in Africa”.

Hakoola is eager to witness progressive legislation that ensures that youths of Zambia are empowered with an enabling environment for youths to participant effectively, in the private sector are enacted and actually brought to fusion by the executive.
