It’s hard to believe another year has come and gone! We have received such tremendous feedback that it’s hard to imagine topping it next year! For now, our sincere thanks and appreciation to all of you who gave of your time to join us for what turned out to be a stunning two days.
One of the highlights this year which resulted in a spontaneous standing ovation setting the room (and media) alight, was Sipho Pityana’s address. We are proud that he used the Joburg Indaba as a platform for straight, robust talk. He was not the only speaker who did so. Neal Froneman by popular vote was nominated “straight talker” of the industry and there were many others who contributed to the robust engagements and the Joburg Indaba living up to its reputation as a platform for “open, honest, bold, fresh conversation”.
None of it would be possible without our great speakers who were cited as the single biggest reason you, the participants, attended the event. We express our sincere thanks to all the speakers who took time out of their schedules to join us and provided such insightful and thought provoking dialogue. We would also like to give a very special thanks to our sponsors, who have enabled us to create a sustainable event and one that can retain its intimate atmosphere, making the Joburg Indaba what it is.
At a gala dinner on the eve of the Joburg Indaba, we launched the SA Mining Hall of Fame. Tis was a spectacular addition to the Joburg Indaba. Please join us in warmly congratulating our nine inductees –Bobby Godsell, Patrice Motsepe, Sipho Nkosi, Gwede Mantashe, May Hermanus, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngucka, Brian Gilbertson, Mark Bristow and Barry Davison.
Hundreds of images were taken at the event, and these are available on the website under the picture gallery.
