Friday 28th May 2021 as a Menstrual Hygiene Day themed:”Action and Investments in good Menstrual Health Hygiene in Post – Pandemic recovery!”, Zambian Children Young People and Women in Development (ZCYPWD) praised World Vision International (WVI) for raising interest in empowering the girl-child to learn uninterupted.
ZCYPWD Executive President Derrick Sinjela reiterated that through commemorating the Menstrual Hygiene Day, World Vision Zambia under the WASH programme will commemorate is a surest effective means to raising awareness on menstrual hygiene management in Zambia.
Comrade Sinjela described the 2021 Menstrual Hygiene Day theme: “Action and Investments in good Menstrual Health Hygiene in Post – Pandemic recovery!”, As an apt aporoach toward curbing absenteeism among female learners due to lack of resources.
“We applaud World Vision International global interventions, which guarantee female learners an opportunity to remain in class. Our Zambian girls will through these initiatives compete with the boy-child as equal learners,” appreciated Cde. Sinjela.
World Vision Zambia has a long history of implementing programmes that address the impacts menstrual hygiene management, and deliver positive outcomes for Girls and women in vulnerable communities.
“Menstrual Hygiene is more than just access to sanitary pads and appropriate toilets – though those are important. It is also about ensuring women and girls live in an environment that values and supports their ability to manage their menstruation with dignity,” read a WVI Zambia message.
