Cheshire Homes Society of Zambia (CHSZ) Chipata – Eastern Province receive footballer Justin Shonga’s K9,000 donation

ORLANDO Pirates Zambian international footballer Justin Shonga donated assorted foodstuffs and groceries worth K9, 000 to Cheshire Home Society of Zambia (CHSZ) in Chipata, Eastern Province on Monday 6th July 2020.

Shonga’s older sister was accompanied by the mother read a speech on behalf of their sporting relation.
Ms. Christine Shonga indicated her gratitude to make the donation on behalf of her brother, Justine Shonga.
Christine explained that as Chipata was their hometown the family felt compelled to make a donation in the Eastern Province.
“I am greatly humbled and privileged to have been given this opportunity to interact with you. Chipata is home and will remain my home. It is said that a person cannot stay without scratching his or her head. I have been given an opportunity to interact with various people despite my humble begginings here in Chipata,” Christine told the gathering of pupils and teaching staff.
The donated items to Chipata Cheshire Homes Society of Zambia (CHSZ) include Blankets, Mealie Meal, Cooking oil, Washing Soap, Salt, Sugar, Biscuits, Rice, Toilet Paper and Soya Pieces all valued at K9,000.
Presenting a brother’s speech, Christine said: “Even in a career like mine, it is important to plough back to the community as part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of some sort. Where I am in South Africa, I represent you and I know that you are proud of me as your son”.
Shonga said Chipata as a town were he was born and bred remains dear dear to his heart despite working miles away in South Africa.
“Chipata is where I come from and indeed believe that I wouldn’t be where I’m today if my roots were not this deep.
I would like to appeal to parents to take their children to school. Let the children also venture in various careers, who knows tomorrow they will be great footballers.
I will not bore you with a lot of words but would sincerely like to thank this community for grooming me to become the person that I have become today. It might not be much, but I hope this gesture does assist in one way or the other,” said Shonga.
Shonga thanked Chipata as a hometown and Cheshire Homes Society of Zambia (CHSZ) for everything and urged recipients to keep safe during the Covid19 period.
