THE ENGINEERING INSTITUTION OF ZAMBIA STATEMENT ON IOLANDA WATER FACILITY POWER SUPPLY ISSUE

Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) President Eugene Haazele shares sentiments expressed Dr Edgar Chagwa Lungu over the Iolanda Water Facility Project in Kafue

The Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) has noted the sentiments expressed by the Head of State, His Excellency the President, Dr Edgar Chagwa Lungu over the Iolanda Water Facility Project in Kafue.

The EIZ shares the concerns of His Excellency, that such an important and expensive facility has been completed but power supply which is an important component of the project has not been included in the scope.

The EIZ has established, through discussions with the Implementing Agents that the Design and Build Contract placed the responsibility of power supply on the Client: Ministry of Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection.

The EIZ has also established that to date, the client has not been able to provide the necessary funding to the project resulting in the project stalling.

The EIZ therefore, implores the Ministry to play its role and ensure that the project is completed and starts serving the people of Zambia.
