FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday 3rd June 2020
WE ADVISE HON: LUSAMBO TO STOP TAKING HIS ANTAGONISTIC BEHAVIOUR TOWARDS YOUNG PEOPLE.
WE as an organization with a strategic focus to promote young people’s participation in the governance of the country are saddened and seriously concerned with the position taken by Hon: Lusambo to use threats on young people with divergent views over the Governance of this Country and it should be condemned with the serious contempt it deserves.
Young people have a right to voice out on what’s happening in the country using different platforms and it is up to Hon: Lusambo and the entire government to listen to these different viewpoints and feelings people have in the country for them to be better informed when making decisions on behalf of the Zambian people who voted for them.
Hon: Lusambo must know that no oppressive government has ever succeeded in any country and him being a former MMD die hard youth should actually know better and desist from his antagonistic behavour.
We have an allinclusive democratic governance in this country as enshrined in our constitution and the 7th National Development Plan.
We feel Brian Bwembya’s video popularly known as B-Flow and other objective young people airing out their views does not anyway put the Country into disrepute and that all concerned young people are Zambians just like Hon: Lusambo.
Therefore, they equally have a right to share their thoughts and freely express themselves on what’s currently happening in our country. Do not threaten young people currently participating in the Governance of this country at any level just because they have a different point of view.
This is the highest form of intimidation and discrimination which we will not support and we will ensure that we stand with young people that are brave and objective like B-Flow and other objective young people.
We, therefore, advise that Government should provide a fair level playing field for all to participate in the Governance of our country without being threatened by people like Hon: Lusambo.
We also would like to implore all young people to desist from using insults on social media but objectively participate in the Governance system of our Country.
Young people are the majority in this Country and should enjoy equal rights and opportunities and its time we all supported each other in addressing the many challenges facing our Country today.
