MULTICHOICE Zambia senior staff members have paid a courtesy call on the first Republican president of Zambia, Dr Kenneth Kaunda to appreciate his efforts in Africa’s liberation struggles and the role he continues to play in helping sustain peace and justice in Zambia.
A courtesy call by Multichoice Zambia senior staff comes as the former president celebrates his 97th birthday on April 28th 2021 and ahead of celebrations to mark Africa’s Freedom Month, which is commemorated during the month of May.
During the visit, MultChoice Zambia Board Chair Juliana Mwila said: “It is exciting for us to join you today to celebrate your birthday. We would like to wish you a very happy birthday as well as good health. As MultiChoice Zambia, we bring you our best wishes as you turn 97 years and we pray for God to sustain your life even longer.”
“Your actions in themselves contributed to societies of some countries across the continent gaining their freedom and independence,” said Ms Mwila. “We at MultiChoice Zambia and indeed the Board are proud of the legacy you are known for by the entire continent and the world.”
As a pioneer and as a founding father, Dr Kaunda remains a pillar on the African continent demonstrating the value of people, their freedom and unity; giving hope to the future of Africa as a whole.
“We celebrate you as an icon not only here in Zambia and Africa but the rest of the world because you are a pillar and icon of peace,” added Ms Mwila.
MultiChoice Regional Director for Southern Africa Ms Fhulufhelo Badugela said: “We are grateful and feel privileged to still have you with us today. Your achievements have contributed to the African narrative that is respected and we can only emulate and build on the foundation you have laid.”
“It’s an honour for us to be in your midst today, knowing and appreciating the fact that your birthday is a precursor to the Africa Freedom month,” said Ms Badugela, when presenting birthday gifts to Dr Kaunda at his residence.
