Personal Reflection by United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) President Charles Chanda
Today, Thursday 7th January 2021, marks exactly 13 years when l was involved in a life threatening accident that almost took my life. Thanks be to God who watches over his own.
Its was around 21hrs on the Sunday 7th January 2007 that we had an accident with the entire family in Jeep Cherokee Grand that l had bought cash three weeks before.
I lost control in the game park in Botswana after trying to avoid an object on the road. The vehicle made a 360 turn and the roof shrieked. I was the only person that had serious injuries and my skin on my head was cut leaving my skull exposed.
I bled like no man’s business and luckily we saw a bake coming and we stopped it. We left the vehicle with its contents about 80km from Kazungula border post.
The driver took us to the nearest clinic and we found that there was no electricity and the nurse lit a candle. When she saw my exposed skull she thought l was going to die and she said we must go to the hospital about 20km. She could not even give me a pain killer. We got to the hospital in Kasani and the doctor when he saw my exposed skull, he only saw a dead man.
He took me into the xray to check any cracks and according to him there were no cracks.
He admitted me only for one night and he phoned Zambia and early in the morning we saw a police vehicle they use to carry arrested criminals arrive. Surely the doctor thought by morning the police will find me dead.
The police drove us to the Livingstone Hospital and l was admitted in the fee paying hospital. After 5 days l was discharged with an exposed skull so l go and die at home. I decided to fly to South Africa with my exposed skull and went to East London Private Hospital.
The doctor that attended to me asked where the ambulance was which brought me and l told Hill came by myself he couldn’t believe. They called an ambulance that took me to the other hospital. I had eight operations and the seventh one was really bad. I failed to woke and l was told the doctors were now pushing the oxygen pile inside my throat till l finally woke up. Good preserved my life and it was for your that is reading.
Thank you Lord for your love over my life and it’s my prayer that you will help me to live according to your divine purpose.
You will only die if heaven has decided
Be the first to like.
