Cleaners Association of Zambia seek protective gear

THE Cleaners Association of Zambia – CAZ – has cautioned its 18, 600 members in the country’s 10 provinces to ensure that they are safe as they conduct domestic and commercial chores in the wake of the devastating global outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID 19).
CAZ President Lawrence Makumbi says the association does not want to compromise a single cleaner working in the front line in hospitals to contract the Coronavirus regardless of a members’ geographical location.
With a countrywide membership in Central, Copperbelt, Eastern, Luapula, Lusaka, Muchinga, Northern, North-Western Southern and Western provinces, Mr. Makumbi has told QTV news that there is need for cleaners to ensure that they are safe as they carry out their job.
The CAZ President is encouraging members to ensure that they demand for personal protective equipment from employers as they clean clinic and hospitals countrywide.
Mr. Makumbi said in Lusaka that there is need for cleaners to ensure that they are safe as they carry out their hospitality job.
The World Health Organization (WHO) says there is a “window of opportunity” to stop the deadly new coronavirus becoming a broader global crisis.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, an Ethiopian said the steps China took to fight the virus at its epicentre were a good way of stopping its spread globally.
