PF must hold convention through secret ballot not lifting of hands, Leslie Chikuse dares
Lusaka-Saturday 3 rd April 2021
By RPP President Leslie Chikuse
As Patriotic Front goes to the convention on 10 and 11th April 2021 to elect office bearers, it must be held through a secret ballot unlike the previous one, lifting of hands by unindetified individuals which created alot of uncertainty in the elective criteria as a country with set of laws.
This was unfortunate from the party currently governing the country.
As Republican Progressive Party (RPP), we urge the Patriotic Front to conduct the convention in a free and fair manner, thus allowing members who want to stand for elective positions.
PF should not dramatise the convention so as to meet the article 60 of the constitution.
We also advise the Patriotic Front to look broadly for candidates to adopt for the coming general elections not children of the sitting Members of Parliament.
There are media reports that a PF lawmaker Mathews Nkuwa who is also Energy Minister is not reconstesting his seat because he does not have a grade 12 Certificate and wants his child to replace him.
Zambia is not a monarchy!
And this would also apply to Dr Chishimba Kambwili who is alledged to want his son contest Roan seat he previously held.
This is a clear demonstration also for Dr Kambwili that is fighting the current MP out of jealous.
Otherwise, the Zambian people have lost alot of confidence in Patriotic Front because it has failed not only with the policies resulting into misery but immorality which would have maybe served them from shame.
Meanwhile, Republican Progressive Party (RPP) will join the Civil Society Organisations to petition the court against President Edgar
Lungu’s assent of Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes bill of 2021 into law with consultation of the legal team.
We feel that President Edgar Lungu’s assent of Cyber Security and Crimes bill into law is a confirmation that he is a dictator who must not be allowed to continue on this trajectory and that it is unconstitutional.
He will regret having assented to it because his close relatives including Tasila his daughter is social media addict.
And if that it was meant to injure the Zambian people especially the opposition he will as well regret.
