Monday 2nd January, 2017, Lusaka The Ministry of Higher Education must re-screen the final selected list of students that will be on student bursary scheme to eliminate those children whose parents or relatives have used their possitions to access facilities meant to benefit the poor and vulnerable households. Our concern is that more than 60 percent of those who have been left out on scheme might be poor and vulnerable and may not afford to meet the cost of university education especially those coming from our rural areas and urban poor and vulnerable households. While we appreciate the economic recovery...

By Harry Kalaba, PF Bahati MP As we prepare to start a brand-new year tomorrow, I wish to reflect on leadership as promised in my first article. And I wish to do so in honour of my late father Mr. Simon Chisha Harry Kalaba who served as Bahati MP for 17 years from 1974 to 1991 and from whom I learnt an unforgettable lesson that leadership is at best a lonely endeavour. No matter how big your team, sometimes it’s just about you. You are all you have, meaning that at some critical moments, all...

By Derrick Sinjela DESPITE Zambia failing to qualify to the 2017 African Cup of Nations, soccer fans remain hopeful that the Chipolopolo lads will do so for the 2018 edition. Gilbert Bwalya expressed optimism that Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President Andrew Kamanga and General Secretary Ponga Liwewe will ultimately spearhead revival of Zambian football. Following Zambia’s maiden 2012 African Cup of Nations victory, registered by then FAZ President Kalusha Bwalya, General Secretary George Kasengele, Herve Renaud and Christopher Katongo, success for the Chipolopolo has been elusive www.derricksinjela.blogspot.com               Be the first to like....

By Ashton Kelly Bunda. PEOPLE’S Redemption Party President Jerry Sikazwe hopes Zambians will take advantage of 2017 by making corrections on social, economic and democratic areas of failure. Obviously in a jovial festive season mood, Mr. Sikazwe in a walk-in-interview barely a few hours into 2017 appealed to the Zambians to remain steadfast, maintain and guard jealously the “Oasis of Peace” fame. However, now 71-year-old Sikazwe conceded that life has not been smooth sailing for Zambia viewed as good governance pace setters, a political ingredient sought after by potential investors. Sikazwe emphasized in his 2017 New Year message that Zambia...
