UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema says the Commission of Inquiry on Voting Patterns and Electoral Violence headed by Justice Munalula Lisimba is an exercise in futility.
Speaking a day after Justice Lishimba launched the commission’s programme of work, following its appointment by Republican President Edgar Lungu on 21st October, 2016; Mr. Hichilema doubted the impartiality of the Commission of Inquiry on Voting Patterns and Electoral Violence.
According to Hichilema people who undermined the electoral process before, during and after the August 2016 Presidential Elections and a National Referendum are known.
The programme recommends that the public reports all political violence to the commission with evidence.
Yesterday, Pan African Radio Journalist Jacqueline Mwitwa quoted Commission Chairperson Justice Lisimba urging victims of electoral violence and human rights violations to present such grievances before by the Commission of Inquiry on Voting Patterns and Electoral Violence.
