WORLD Vision Zambia Director for Advocacy and Communications Wanga Saili says preventable Neo natal complications such as Pneumonia, Diarrhea, Malaria, HIV and AIDS and Malnutrition have continued taking lives of the majority of children under the age of five.
Speaking during the launch of the Monday, 30th March, 2015 Zambia Alliance for Maternal Neonatal and Child Health at Radisson Blu Hotel in Lusaka, Ms. Saili emphasized that a great partnership has started following a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zambian parliamentarians.
An elated Ms Saili, pointed out that World Vision Zambia stood ready to combine efforts with the Government, parliamentarians and a cross section of stake holders to overcome most of the health challenges.
This is an opportune time to work together and lend a helping hand toward our collective goal of mitigating preventable deaths of expectant mothers and children. World Vision Zambia believes that with help of adequate resources, this WVZ Parliamentary partnership will touch the lives of many in Zambia and will bring hope to the mothers.
Ms. Saili lamented that despite positive progress by the Government through Health Minister Dr. Joseph Kasonde, a number of challenges remain including statistics showing that 40% of under five children in Zambia are stunted due to malnutrition.
