Ladies and Gentlemen.
I am delighted to be here in Mazabuka District to officially commission and hand over 50 housing units to the Zambia Police Service.
Ladies And Gentlemen,
Before I go further, let me urge you to observe the Health Regulations put in place to protect us all from the covid 19 pandemic. We must observe Social Distancing and all the Health Measures. covid 19 is real.
Ladies And Gentlemen,
As some of you may be aware, we have just come from yet another site in Monze District, where I commissioned and handed over 70 Housing Units to the Zambia Correctional Service.
Today alone i have had the pleasure to commission and hand over 120 Housing Units including The 50 Units Handed over to the Zambia Police Service here In Mazabuka, Southern Province.
Over the last four years, my Government has since commissioned and handed over a total of 1,299 Housing Units out of the 1,500 Housing Units allocated to the men and women in the Police Service, under the First Phase of The Housing Project For Security Wings under The Ministry of Home Affairs.
In addition to these housing units, we have other infrastructure for the Police under Construction in Southern Province. These include; Chikankata, Kazungula, Zimba Police Stations and the Provincial Headquarteres in Choma.
With these structures coming up, I direct the Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Development to prioritise the completion of these projects to reduce challenges being experienced by officers in the delivery of quality service to our people.
Resources indeed can be a challenge, especially with the many unforeseen circumstances that confront our nation and the whole world, in particular, the covid-19 pandemic.
Despite this situation, we still have the responsibility as government to serve our people. We, therefore, have to find ways to expedite these projects to enable us save on the huge bills incurred from Renting Private Properties.
Distinguished Ladies And Gentlemen,
As Your Commander-In-Chief, I am glad that the Zambia Police Service is one of the departments that continues to benefit from my Government Infrastructure Development Agenda.
We shall continue to roll out development projects in all parts of the country covering all the social and economic sectors.
In our Developmental Agenda, we are Non – Selective Because We believe In One Zambia, One Nation (One Zambia One Nation; One Zambia One Nation).
Anchoring On This National Motto, This region will receive a fair share of National Development like any other region in the country. This is my strong belief and the belief of my Government. We are in these positions not for personal gain but to serve the people of this country, including you in Southern Province. I will continue to do so as your President.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Furthermore, we shall continue focusing on our Constitutional Mandate of Maintaining Law and Order so that our country can continue being the beacon of peace in the region and the world. In this regard, officers should remain vigilant and ensure that criminals are brought to book.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Allow me to implore the people of Southern Province, including the youths to continue being peaceful and rendering support to Government so that together, We can foster National Socio-Economic Growth.
Do not allow yourselves to be derailed and used as objects of violence because such acts are detrimental to you as individuals and society as whole. It further, stifles National Development.
As Government, we are working round the clock, to improve the living standards of our people by providing supportive social and economic infrastructure and also Ensuring That No One Person Or Region Is Left Behind.
Ladies And Gentlemen,
As I conclude, let me thank the contractor for the commitment and quality workmanship exhibited on all project sites government contracted to them, and most importantly, for completing Phase One of the Ministry of Home Affairs Housing Project one year ahead of schedule.
To the officers who are going to occupy these Housing Units, I appeal to you to guard them with great care, ensure that regular maintenance is carried out and any damages addressed quickly for the houses to remain habitable during their life span.
I now wish to declare the 50 Housing Units officially commissioned and handed over to the Zambia Police Service.
God Bless You All
I Thank You.
