THE Zambian Government is interested in better trading spaces, for citizens, says Patriotic Front (PF) Kasama Member of Parliament (MP) Kelvin Mutale Sampa told Comet Radio 93.7FM ‘The Podium’ anchored Timothy Chilala Mukwima, on Wednesday 7th March 2018.
Responding to the anchors question on whether or not removal of vendors had made the PF and President Edgar Chagwa Lungu unpopular, Mr. Sampa says even at family level, a parent is equally supposed to create a conducive and sane environment.
Kasama located approximately, 850 kilometres in the Northern |Province, from Lusaka, Sampa explained that ‘Cooperatives Initiative’ a brainchild of President Lungu, coordinated by Zambia Cooperatives Federation (ZCF) are now run solar powered milling plants in Kasama, and elsewhere.
“”Families are now getting access to home and community made mealie meal, which they grind or mill ” at K9, an optimistic and Sampa said on Comet radio.
Sampa says 90 per cent of Kasama is rural and solar milling plants, have cushioned peasant farmers access to the staple meal, which they make out of maize, millet and sorghum.
Sampa says for the first time Kasama has received Social Cash Transfer (SCT) resources facilitated by Community Development Minister, Emerine Kabanshi targeted at amelioration of poverty among young poor people.
On concerns by several callers that the PF need to take heed of vulnerability being eased, Sampa said the PF now led by President Edgar Chagwa Lungu and Ms. Inonge Mutukwa Wina continue to empower citizens, through pro-poor policies and concern.
“I appreciate criticism, but it must be received consciously. When mealie meal price reduced, no one commended the PF Government. Farmers and families are grinding mealie meal at K9 and able feed and fend for themselves as families,” said Sampa.
On job creation,” Sampa said those with qualification are getting jobs, and private sector has sufficient opportunities
Sampa says Zambians must not rely on Public Sector jobs, stating that most countries and investors continue eying and falling on each other’s shoes in a collective quest to bring Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
On the proposed law limiting tenure of office as an MP and contesting or aspiring presidential contestants, Sampa said life and politics is dynamic, and will not hesitate to support such a progressive notion.
“I will not be MP forever. We are here to serve the people, but it must have a period. I am here as an MP and have set a limit on my tenure. The ‘Wamuyaya’ literally translated as “Eternal Leadership´ not, to extend this to party’s. Even extending to MP’s is good also. In five year or ten, it is sufficient time to perform” said Sampa pointing out that PF Chifubu Frank Ng’ambi proposal is done in good faith.
On a caller’s description of President Lungu and the PF as a corrupt team, Sampa laughed such sentiments as unsubstantiated.
“That is personal. You know one must believe facts and evidence. Those with facts must adduce evidence by reporting noted corruption. I do not agree with that evidence as the Jack of Corruption has not been proved. I want people to report, as people must stop denting the image of the President,” protested Sampa, stating that the ‘Ubomba Mwibala’ is exaggerated.
Sampa says impeachment proceedings being schemed by the United Party for National Development (UPND) are not substantiated, have no ground as President Lungu is constitutionally governing Zambia, internationally assessed as peaceful.
“If I said an opposition leader and that is UPND leader, Hakainde Hichilema is defecting, to the PF, is that real, as your guess is just as good as mine, that is Fake News and amounts to nothing but just propaganda. We must leave as one, as people are merely jealousy and all the time competing to drive a car with a flag,” said Sampa, as what he termed as ‘Bitter Politics’. are now rife .
Lukulu Voice, a Lusaka based caller encouraged Sampa to keep his campaign policies, though he expressed worry over lack of adherence to more jobs, money in people’s pockets and lower taxes.
Dr. Proud said he had received complaints of marketeers, and charcoal traders in Garden Township being chased.
Prominent Noel of Marapodi Township in Lusaka, bitterly complained as people in Mandevu Constituency run by Mandevu Member of Parliament (MP) Jean Kapata, serving as Lands and natural Resources Minister and elsewhere are suffering.
Jessica said she is able to visualise development as a Mandevu resident, and encouraged self-reliance.
Zambia’s Press Secretary for Information and Tourism, in Dehli, India on the Asian continent encouraged Sampa to continue his good deeds targeted at improving Kasama Central Constituency.
