We “Need a New Crop of Leaders,” pleads Isaac Able Mwaipopo
By Isaac Able Mwaipopo
Our country needs a new crop of leaders, it needs people who can envision and plan how Zambia can look like in the next 50 years, they need to be leaders who inspire a new order, they need to stimulate our hopes and aspirations to build a great country that creates new opportunities.
The majority of potential political leaders we have do not inspire this kind future we desperately need, they are preoccupied discussing the cost of cooking oil, fuel and mealie meal. The ambitions are too small for a big world, they think so much about a day’s meal while others are busy trying to create new territories for human occupation in space. I long for more minds like Professor Clive Chirwa, he dreamt of turning around our transport system and graphically gave us a picture of how big a difference it was going to make. That’s the kind of thinking I hope to see in those that offer themselves for public service. They should think big, dream big, do proper research to give us an alternative path for development.
We need a new crop.
