448 thousand kwacha is the budget for the Saturday April 28th 2018 boxing tournament to be held in Solwezi District in Northern-Western Province.

This is according to ORIENTAL Quarries Boxing Promotions Operations Manager Christopher Malunga who said main sponsor of the Solwezi District boxing tournament had been secured.

“We are happy to say that the response which we are receiving from North Western, particularly Solwezi is excellent because companies are willing come on board,” said Malunga.

He said the tournament is dedicated towards girl child empowerment in the Zambia.

“The theme for this very important tournament is ‘Fighting Early Marriages’ and most of the bouts will involve female boxers. We are going to work with the Zambian Government and other sponsors to ensure that we create awareness on the dangers of early marriages,” Malunga added.

Malunga explained that the next international tournament will be held on Saturday 1st September 2018, and the other last one will take place on the Saturday 29th of December 2018 at Lusaka’s New  Government Complex.

And Malunga told a media briefing in Lusaka this morning that boxers under the promotion have reported to camp including Catherine Phiri, Alfred Muwowo, Lolita Muzeya, Mbiya Nkanku and other boxers from Oriental.
