Mawano Kambeu means business. Raised in Kitwe town, he is moving in the direction of entrepreneurial giant as far business is concerned in this country.  With never seen before initiatives, like Icommute and Bus Ticket Zambia, his story is intriguing to follow. Mr. Kambeu received his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Southern CT State University and holds an MBA in Finance from Fairfield University. He completed his IGCSEs and A-Levels at Lechwe School. After university he went ahead to pursue a corporate career and acquired  10years of Corporate experience in banking, investments and finance, having worked for Prudential Financial, one of the world’s largest financial companies in various positions.

His years of work and education have acquired him very practical skills such as Investment, Management, Finance, sales, corporate finance, financial analysis, mutual funds and retail just to name a few.  The time venture-out, inevitably came.  Mawano Kambeu is the founder of Dot Com Zambia LLC, a technology company specializing in e-commerce platforms for the Zambian market. The platforms include an online shopping mall, personal shopping service, technology services for businesses and most recently Bus Tickets Zambia, a project that allows consumer in Zambia to book and pay for their bus travel using a variety of methods from online to visiting a ticketing agent.

Established formally in 2009, Dot Com Zambia is establishing itself as a pioneer in the e-commerce industry in Zambia. Under Mr. Kambeu’s tenure, the company has grown from a one man $17,000 operation in 2009, to a major technology company with offices and staff in multiple countries around the world including the USA and UK. In September, 2015 Dot Com Zambia received a $500,000 investment from venture capital firms, Kukula Capita and e-Ventures Africa Funds

When you work as hard as he does, and get the right attention, recognition is a given:

Mawano inspires me because he took technological ideas and brought them home, I love that. These ideas that have, and will continue to ease our lives as Zambians; for example Dotcom has made it easier for us to order stuff online and Bus Ticket, also which will ease our transport solutions. Those are really cool technological ideas that will revolutionize how we live as Zambians.
